Mother Nature laid out the perfect composition for this picture of an old deadfall next to the rambling, newborn, Colorado River. The pool in the middle of the shot, reflecting back the trees in their early morning blush, perhaps contains some nice trout. Actually, I wasn't looking for this scene, but for elk grazing in the early morning. As I walked out of the trees in front of the river, a cow elk was grazing across from me, but ran into the trees before I could get a picture of her.
